I have been “training”now for 8 weeks. I have gone from running maybe 4 miles per week to averaging 20 miles per week. I have increased my body mass, speed, endurance , etc. and have gotten faster, stronger. I am happy with my results but want more. I feel like this is all my body can do but I want more. Maybe the curve slows down once you finally get in shape and the process will just be slower to improve. I don’t know.
Workout:

i started writing and lost my post. i apologize in advance if you get a double posting!
my amateur knowlege:
it takes about 3 months to get your cardio system fit. so in another month you will be technically fit and your improvement curve should flatten. your body will be used to the amount of work, know the minimum amount of calories it needs to burn, etc. and have adjusted for it. improvement will come more from changing things up than adding volume. plus figuring out what works for you physically and mentally.
you should assess whether your bones and joints are up for the task of a 1/2 marathon. maybe add distance to your longest run every week or two to build up. who knows? you might want to make a stab at a full marathon later this year :o)
add some speed work every week or two. you might get some speed out of it plus it’s fun. if you go to a track you get a more forgiving surface once in a while that’s easier on the bod.
add some more intense up and down work outs to get your body used to buffering lactic acid. now that your system is fit you can work on how it deals with the stress of race pace.
remember to have mini-cycles in your long term training cycle. so every 4-5 weeks should be a cycle that includes a less intense/volume week and some build up weeks to a heaviest week.
of course i follow almost none of the above, i just know it’s what you’re “supposed” to do. who has time to figure all this out???
i’m blown away that you’ve come so far in 8 weeks. look at your training paces, that’s awesome!

Wonderful progress, Pamela. It’s good to see that you recognize that there will be a slowing, but definitely keep working.
