got home late from Dallas–did my strength training workout at 7pm.  daughter at work, hubby on a fishing trip, son on xbox so figured why not? not a good idea. i didn’t know this but my muscles were tired this morning.   felt it at about 6 miles.  finished anyway.  i think i will take a recovery nap–daughter at work, hubby on a fishing trip, son on xbox so why not? and there is no school tomorrow so groceries and supper and all that goes with the start of a new week can just wait.

Gosh, you would think I live in Seattle!!! lol. Had to run on the treadmill. We had some bad a** tornadoes just north of here today–maybe I am thinking I live in Oklahoma. Have noticed that I get into the groove at about 2.5 miles –start feeling comfortable. So, maybe as I increase my long runs I will totally find my flow. I’ve gained about 1.5 pounds in the past 5 weeks. Which I can feel in my strength. Yeah.

Winds out of the ESE at 10-13.  Cloudy. 88% humidity.  A few hills.  A few trucks.  A few diesel fumes.  Legs were a little tired after the pace I kept yesterday.  Gave them a good massage afterwards.

Everything that could mess up my schedule did so this morning.  Mentally and physically.  So I got on the treadmill for a quick run.  I wasn’t about to let that go.  I’m still discombobulated–is that even a word–here’s hoping for a better tomorrow.  If I could think clear enough to verbalize it I would.  I just have no ‘flow’.  And I can hear those darn ferrets getting into something!!!

Everything is a first for me these days.  I ran in the fog–forecast said sunny with no wind until noon–yeah right.  Funny how forecasts change in the middle of the night.  Now I get to go on a trail ride with a friend in the fog.  We have a two hour trek planned out (my friend loves her GPS) and it looks glum for the rest of the morning.  There is 100 acres between my subdivision and hers and we plan to find a way to connect the two.  This is Texas so we could run into the issue of locked gates.  Long as we don’t run into a loaded gun.  lol

As I was running this morning I kept smelling this really nasty smell.  (reminds me of an old rock n roll song–can’t remember the name ‘can’t you smell that smell’).  anyway, as the sweat was pouring off my scalp the odor was permeating my nostrils–there was no way I could “run” away from it.  Couldn’t figure it out until I remembered that I had my hair highlighted yesterday–which I do every three months, but have never been a “runner” before.  I just hurried up and got her done.  Wonder what adventure holds for me this Sunday (don’t forget the 18 wheeler incident yesterday)–I am going to Galveston and my long run will be on the beach.  Who ever said running was boring–lol

Weather was cloudy, cool and a tiny bit breezy-the small hills were just that–small.  I had to run about .6 miles on a heavily traveled road to get to these small hills.  An 18-wheeler flew by and even though I was off the shoulder and on the grass, he nearly blew me over!!! It was funny at the time but I think from now on I will drive to where I would like to run.  I live out in the country but the small country road I live on is a shortcut between College Station and Houston–you can imagine the speed these autos pick up.  I could feel the extra work the hills provided and enjoyed it.  I couldn’t and wouldn’t have said that one month ago.  lol

i borrowed a heart rate monitor just to see where i was at in working within my training zone.  well, to get at 70% of my maximum heart rate (which i calculated earlier) i had to really up my pace as my workout indicates.  my legs aren’t as strong as my heart.   my question is, how do i create a workout that gets my heart working yet builds my leg strength slowly?  i’m sure there is a formula out there but i know nothing.  thanks.

i got a new ferret for my girl, Pei-Pei.  He is a big strapping boy and I named him Turin–another LOTR name (from the first book Tolkein wrote “the Children of Hurin”). she is a happy girl. Pei-Pei & Turin she is on top and i do believe she has a smile on her face.
