i hadn’t done any ’strength’ training for a while.  doing good to run, cool off and get to work. i could feel my muscles quaking in their ‘boots’ so i took the advice of the massage therapist i have seen a couple of times and soaked in a hot tub of salts.  we will see tomorrow how it helped.   i have all this free time because my children flew to california to visit friends.  they are out on the coast enjoying nice weather and good food–and they better be ‘making wise choices’–i always jokingly (and seriously) say that to them ever since we watched Freaky Friday years ago.  they laugh and go on, but i tell ya—they have leaned on those words of wisdom and shared some of their wise choices with me.  i’ve got such rational kids….

    hey pamela,
you calling me crazy is the pot calling the kettle black! with all the running you’ve been doing, you’re really racking up the miles. are you riding a lot too?
i’m only working out 3-4 times a week and at max it’s an hour, so not as much as you think. trying to get achilles tendonitis under control. i made a promise to myself and dr. that i would get it under control before i started running again. this includes sometimes choosing sleep instead of a workout to give it a fighting chance to heal. so far so good but it’s very hard not to aggravate it when it gets angry every time i use my foot. i realized even yoga was putting too much stretch on it. i’m not sure if i’ll do nyc unless i can get running soon. i’ve come to grips with the whole thing, although i admit it hasn’t been easy. i’m usually very good at being lazy and sedentary, but it’s harder when you’re “forced” to.
it’s great that you’ve found a group to train with!
it’s unseasonably cool here in seattle, but frankly it’s not as if it’s usually that much warmer, at least not compared to the rest of the country. we had a sunny day today and it was in the mid-60s. that means seattleites were out sunbathing - whoohoo!
btw, it’s great to hear about your kids!
