met for the group run.  this group was doing 23 today.  i did my 24 last week so just went for 10.  it is finally cool in the mornings–62 at 4am.  i don’t think we need to start as early anymore.  out of the 25 or so that started this training for the rock n roll marathon in san antonio, we have about 8 left.

boy did i slow down after 18.  i don’t think i was physically/mentally ready for this but conquered it anyway. i hadn’t eaten correctly or hydrated properly since i was still trying to get back in the swing of things since my vacation.  the longest run i had before this was 21 miles three weeks ago.  i just felt like i couldn’t get my feet to move any faster after the 18 marker.  my bra rubbed me and i am uncomfortable, my toes are sore and there is a spot in the small of my back that got real tight while finishing and it is sore.  but–good news is the hips handled the run very well.  my massage therapist has something good going there. i am off to a massage tomorrow. my daughter is home from college and needs a massage too–long late nights studying and not the best posture!!!

so busy getting back into the swing of things i forgot i have to run in the early morning to beat the heat.  so, by the time i could run it was 4pm so did some treadmill work–inclines and speed.  just messed around knowing i had a long one scheduled for saturday.

today was awesome.  went out to the farm to market roads and ran and ran.  the canadian rockies in the distance had fresh snow on them and i was mesmerize.  very cool with no breeze–i did a few hills too.  gosh, the air was so easy to breathe!!!  horse shows are almost over. it rained yesterday so was miserably cold. i am grooming for several people and loving all the smells and activity i don’t get to do anymore.

This morning we had some cool weather–70 instead of 85–yippee.  I ran 4 miles non-stop with a slight incline and a 12 mph push wind.  I then turned around and ran 4 miles back with a 12 mph wind in my face and a slight decline utilizing the 4 and1 method.  I ran both sections in 37 minutes for a total of 74 minutes.  I felt fast going with the wind and the slight uphill and I felt slow going against the wind and the slight downhill but they were both the same.  Interesting.   Anyway, tomorrow I leave for a weeks vacation in Canada where it is REALLY cool.  I can’t wait to run out there.  Later dudes….

first 2 miles outside with a head wind–9 min. miles/min.  came in to finish on the treadmill (we are having a silly north wind due to the rotation of Gustav but no rain). ran 4 one mile repeats at 8:30 pace with a one minute walk between.  hip started getting tight.  had a sports massage therapist work on my hip twice last week.  funny thing is, i have always had tight muscles there.  whether it is country and western dancing or riding my horse (jumping or dressage) this muscle gets tight–tighter than tight.  i can remember it hurting at age 18.  anyway, epsom salt baths and stretching and massage seems to help it recover faster and last longer.
